Are There Standard Stainless Steel IBC Dimensions?

The most common size for stainless steel IBCs is 350-gallon capacity. This capacity provides the most cost efficient use of material and easily double stacks in common over-the-road trailers. The standard 350-gallon tote tank dimension is 42” x 48” base with an overall height of 47”.  The stainless steel 350-gallon IBC Tote Tanks has the same base dimension as a pallet, but can hold more than SIX 55-gallon drums!

Another popular size for stainless steel IBCs is the 550-gallon capacity tote tank.  The standard 550-gallon tote tank dimension is 42” x 48” base with an overall height of 71”.  These tote tanks have a tare weight of Metano Stainless Steel IBCsapprox. 615 lbs. The stainless steel 550-galllon IBC has the same base dimension as a pallet, but can hold TEN 55-gallon drums!

While the 350-gallon and 550-gallon are the most common capacities for stainless steel, there are other capacities available.  This chart will show the capacities available.

There is an alternative base dimension of 42” x 42”.  This base dimension is normally used with 260-gal, 305-gal, 395-gal and 485-gallon capacities. You can see this illustrated on the chart of stainless steel intermediate bulk containers.

The most important consideration when choosing an IBC base dimension is stacking.  You certainly want all of your stainless steel tote tanks to stack on one another.  This is a major feature of using stainless steel tote tanks. If your totes the same IBC base dimensions, then stacking is easy. You can stack 350-gallon stainless steel IBCs up to four high!
